Staratigraphy principles...

there are six principles of staratigraphy.....
1) original horizontality - state that sediment deposited in flat , horizontal layer
2) superposition - in a sediment sequence the older bed are on the bottom and the younger bed
are on the top.
3) lateral continuity - when sediment are deposited in sea floor it will extend for a considerable in
all direction.
4)inclusion- fragment of other rock contained in a body of rock must be older than the host rock.
5 and 6 principles are cross cutting and faunal succesion.
